Default 1951 Topps MLAS Big Three Blank Backs

Well, for those Topps completists who missed out on last year's auction of the ultra rare 1951 Topps MLAS Big Three, Heritage now has the same three cards up for bids, but with blank backs. Current bidding is around twenty grand for all three, but with almost a month to the finish line, it could be interesting to see which of the cards deep pocket collectors will choose to light their cigars.

I felt like the finished cards auctioned last year underperformed. Was it the market or just a blip? May not be able to tell even with these on offer-proofs are generally going for less than issued subjects these days, As are most tough SP's and test cards.

Right, Dave - I too was somewhat surprised by the low ball bids on those three cards last year. I think perhaps it was due to the relative unpopularity of the Topps 1951 card sets, not only with long-time collectors, but especially with newer hobbyists. It may be that the greater demand and higher prices paid in past decades was just a reflection of the fact that older collectors put a higher value on the scarce MLAS cards than can be found these days.
