Typically, the vote is taken on Thursday of the show at the annual dealer meeting but I believe you might be able to vote through the mail as well if you are a booth holder and do not attend that meeting.
They will not announce the selection for a while even if the vote is complete. |

I watched a live panel on Thursday afternoon at the National where John Newman said that Atlanta was already announced.

I watched the part in the video you posted. Seems odd he would have said that since it was clearly wrong.

I can see why the dealers voted for Detroit as it's closer for all the east coast dealers (especially NE ones) and maybe not as humid as Atlanta. There's a large number of people in the hobby (including Net54 members) that will really only attend the National if it comes to the area where they live. Completely understandable, especially how expensive (and difficult logistics) & crowded the show has become.

So excited now, my 24 year old and his friends were cheering. Wait till you see how great this is going to be. We built for this, The North American Auto Show is one of the largest conventions in the country and it’s no sweat. Huntington is walking distance to all our stadiums and hotels, food is plentiful and the area is completely harmless. The one ways can be confusing but an Indy race is held each year that goes right through there, so it’s not bad.
Edited to add the one warning, lol. Watch your street signs so you don’t pull the rookie mistake and accidentally leave the country. People ignore the two hundred signs and end up in the tunnel to Canada all the time. It’s a long talk if you didn’t bring a passport. 20 minutes on a slow drive to Windsor Ontario, lol.

This would mark the first time that the National could be a day trip for me. As a bonus, I am familiar with a lot of out of the way motels between points A and B if needed. Works for me. I may actually attend a National again after all. Let's all hope and pray that Pokemii and Pikachii have gone to visit the Beanie Babies by 2028.
I am very curious to witness what Detroit has done to clean things up in the years since I've visited. Revitalization would definitely be a tall order. I've long had a soft spot for Detroit in a way that I never could seem to muster for Cleveland or Baltimore. In a different part of my life, I was in that city and its suburbs five times a week. It's so hard to believe that Detroit was once incredibly beautiful, teeming with one architectural masterpiece after another. I'm happy that something positive has occurred for this city. It's about time! Last edited by BillyCoxDodgers3B; 08-03-2025 at 07:24 AM. |

That’s exactly the reason that I wish the national traveled around to other cities, like a music concert. Expand the hobby footprint.

Remember the NSCC used to travel around quite a bit before settling into the Chicago/Cleveland (not an I/X option anymore)/Atlantic City routine.
That was also easier to move around when major local promoters did the NSCC as their big show or added to their work load but they were already prepped to run shows. Now, it needs the show managers we have and remember the bids have to make sense for all involved. But it is good to see new cities involved and hopefully that trend will continue. Regards Rich

As it stands now, Cleveland, Atlantic City, and Baltimore will not have another National anytime soon.

It's a shame Baltimore was not large enough to keep hosting as the infrastructure around the convention center is good for the show.
In terms of infrastructure, St, Louis and Anaheim had good NSCC infrastructure and based on what some have posed about the Detroit location, that should be good as well Rich

That announcement picture says Detroit... 2028. Typo, or could it be Atlanta next year and Detroit 2028?

I personally didn't enjoy Anaheim, but you're either a California person or you're not. I remember the heat too. Speaking of heat (and forgive me for mentioning it again), but that Baltimore-DC corridor has the absolute worst heat I've ever experienced in my life. It's a special kind of awful. I wish I could be more of a fan of Baltimore, as its history is to be greatly respected. The suburbs are fine and the people have been generally great. I just can't get into that ghetto. Same with DC. It's strange, as some inner cities don't bother me as much, and they're certainly as bad. |
