Selling suggestions

Hello everyone. I have been on a collecting/selling "hiatus" for a couple of years, but all of our children are now married and I am approaching retirement in a year or so. As a result, I am looking to begin selling some of my commons in order to help fund future purchases. The vast majority of the cards I will be selling are 1970's baseball/football commons and minor stars in VG-EX range so I'm not talking any high-dollar cards.

Here is my question: Is eBay still the best way to liquidate commons/minor stars? I have sold extensively on eBay in the past, but it looks like Facebook has now become a viable options.

I use eBay a lot (Adam's House of Cards and More). Selling commons and minor stars from the era you are describing and in midgrade is a grind at best and will not be lucrative. If you have desirable high #s (3rd series 1972 Topps FB, etc.) or cards from pre-1957 sets, those will sell as singles (slowly), but the rest you have to bundle and sell for pennies on the dollar.

if you have sets that you are breaking, really your best bet is to sell the sets as such and replace the cards you really like with the proceeds. Full sets move.

Do not forget to test pack and weigh your stuff and input the correct data. Shipping costs are brutal. I sold a series (66 cards) of 1977 Topps Star Wars in CS1's and it cost ten bucks to mail it. Quite a hit on a $50 set.

Since it is mostly cheaper low end stuff you have 2 main options.

1) Put stuff in large lots that sell quickly. The good is you have to put in very little work. The bad you will receive the least money this way.

2) Sell individually to set builders. The good is in the end you will get much more money. The bad is that could take a very very very long time to sell that way.

It basically comes down to how much time you want to waste selling low end cards.

You may as well start by listing them on the B/S/T here either in lots or as individual cards and save on fees with whatever sells.
