Default SGC question

Contacted SGC about grading 53 Mantle Topps, 55 Koufax Topps, and 57 Richardson Topps. Declared each at a value of 1499. The standard grading charge is 45.00 total, does that sound right ? If so, how to ship them ? Fed EX ok ? Richardson card is autographed as he is a personal friend.

Thanks.

Never graded with SGC before, but I thought I understood that they don’t have a different cost scale based on the value of the item.

But it could be that it’s changed with their somewhat recent acquisition?

Nicolo, SGC's grading fee for the standard-service grading of a card with a declared value of less than $1,500 is $15. This explains the values the OP assigned to his cards. The SGC grading fee for a card with a declared value of $1,500 to $3,499.99 is $85 (gulp!).

Gotcha. Good to know!

Maybe it’s Beckett that doesn’t have an upcharge based on value?

I guess we’ll see what SGC thinks about your cards.

Naturally, they are nice, but with some flaws.

I would guess maybe a 2 for the Mantle?

And maybe a 3 or 4 for the Richardson?

And maybe a 5 for the Koufax?

But it’s hard to really tell much just by staring at images on a screen.

I don’t believe SGC grades autographed cards anymore. You may want to check with them before mailing in that Bobby Richardson.

I think that's being overly optimistic.

Mantle 1
Koufax 2
Auto card no idea if they will even grade other than AUT

Default SGC question

They will authenticate certified autos like with more modern stuff, but no, I don’t believe they pass judgment on random auto’d stuff anymore after the JSA fiasco some years back.
