Posted By: Julian Most of my M101-5's, and M101-4's have a fairly "tight" border, however, my Bender has a lot of border. |

| m101-5 question

Posted By: Todd (nolemmings) Not sure whether we're talking about the same thing. I'm focusing not on the borders of the cards, but on the inner distance between the photo and the "black box" that surrounds it. Both of your cards look "tight", but look at the space in the Kit Young auction vs. your cards and the ones offered by Gaynor. |

Posted By: Julian I understand now, comparing the links to the auctions you provided, to the cards I own, they seem to be consistent, or, maybe I need my eyes checked. I hope the scans helped. |

| m101-5 question

Posted By: fkw Ive always thought all the wide gap cards were fakes, and all authentic cards will have the thin gap. The way to tell is look at the gap between the photo itself, and the thin pistripe line surrounding the picture. Fakes are at least 2-3 times wider in this area, and easily seen. I'll take a look at the auction I havent yet. Frank |

| m101-5 question

Posted By: fkw Ya I agree the card in the auction has the characteristics of a reprint (from what Ive always known). Has anyone ever seen a wide gape authentic card?? I only own a handful from this issue (type cards) and all mine and everyone Ive seen lately have thin gaps. Todd your good, I see the Bender is reallly a M101-4 from 1916, and yet another PSA vintage card identification screw up. Frank |

| m101-5 question

Posted By: Andy Baran All of the Authentic M101-5 cards that I own or have owned have smaller gaps. The black border line is also very thin, and not of uniform thickness. However, the color of the stock has varied between white, cream, tan, light brown, etc. There is another dealer on Ebay that is currently selling cards that I believe to be reprints. Buyer Beware! |

| m101-5 question

Posted By: Andy Baran Unfortunately, I am quite sure that the card you won is a reprint. The Sisler is a very tough card for some reason. It took me 5 years to find one. I think that Steve Verkman still has one for sale, but it is very pricey. Good Luck. |

| m101-5 question

Posted By: leon I got a chance to look at all of my m101/4 and /5's this weekend, with the different backs etc.... (Really pretty easy as they are stashed away in the igloo very nicely). All of them had very tight borders that are prevelant on good copies. So how did this Sisler turn out?, understanding most folks thought it was not good....regards all |
