The Japan-Cuba game last night was great. Two teams with contrasting styles, intense play, submarine pitchers, pitchers with full windups, 140# shortstops diving behind 2nd base, lightning baserunning, bunts for hits, lots of strategy, WS game 7 pitching staff usage, I loved it. That's what baseball is supposed to look like. I am so glad that the US team lost because not having US baseball in the finals was much more interesting. Ichiro is amazing.

One thing I noticed throughout .... games moved along at a smooth and exciting pace: No 10 hours to get into batters box; no mound meeting between each pitch; no changing to sliding gloves a first; no "this RBI is brought to you by" .... etc.

Not that MLB is going to learn anything or change, it was nice to see.
