I know I read a story once where Ted Williams was shooting ducks from the Fenway outfield...maybe it was a common practice for the players to be armed. |

Actually, during WWI, any players not in the Army had to drill with rifles daily. The owners felt this would prevent the Government form shutting down Baseball for the duration. |
