The Boys of Summer, by Roger Kahn

The one you want is: the mass market paperback, publushed in 1973. See, the first edition, and second ('71 and '72) came out before the deaths of Hodges and Robinson (April and October, '72, respectively). And for some crazy reason, he took that chapter out in subsequent editions...not to mention some of Chuck Dressen's obscenities...can't do without them! |

Wow, Dennis! Your display of 1956 Topps Dodgers reminds me how great 1950's baseball cards are. I wish this site was dedicated to "Pre-1960 cards." Isn't it amazing that a team with only World Series championship could lay claim to being the greatest NL team ever? The only team I can think of that's close is the Reds of 1975-76 ... |

Jason, the three gloves are L-R Billy Herman, Can't remember off hand but it's a nice buckle back, and a nice Spalding split finger without any endorsement. |

There is a ceiling fan in that room with a baseball globe on it. It used to be my son's room, but he wanted to move into a bigger room so I made it into my baseball display room, but he has since moved back into that room and I finished my basement into a family room so my wife let me have the living room so I'm now working on a new baseball room that I'll have pics up on my photobucket site soon. How's that for a run-on sentence? |

Yes, very run on- but I now realize it wasn't the ball but the overhead globe. However, if you go back to the image, you will see the ball on the table and the reflection do look identical. |

I didn't even notice the reflection on the panorama until you pointed it out. |
