It's a driver's license. If you feel it's a baseball card, then your definition of a card is anything small and square. And where is the baseball part of it?

And the only thing that makes the 1914 Baltimore News photograph a card is the slab. It's a wonderful artifact, I saw it in person, but it is not a baseball card. It's just a really neat photo.

I ain't slabbing it...

because I'm pulling it out at the front desk the next time I check into an Atlanta Hotel and they ask for ID.

Maybe they will comp me a room as the All-Time Non-Steroid Home Run King.

I'll just say that my skin has lightened since I retired from playing baseball outside every day.

When my current wife was 16 or 17, (we were dating at the time) I borrowed a neighbor girls drivers license, so that I could get my girl friend into a bar. The neighbor girl was "blond" 5'4", and had green eyes. My girl friend was brunette, 5"10" and had blue eyes. he looked at the license, looked at her, and said "YUP, THATS YOU ALRIGHT". And let her in. What a great country we live in.

In hindsight I guess I could have looked a little harder for someone who resembled my girl friend.

Poor use of symantics. My current wife, is, and has been my only wife. We started dating when she was 15. And will be my one and only wife. I hope. She is terrific, and I owe most of my success to her. Why she lowered her standards for me, will never be known. All I can say is....I'm one luckey SOB.

It's a card. It's a card picturing a baseball player. It's not a baseball card as it wasn't distributed commercially to general public.

I'd catalog it as a piece baseball memorabilia, or, more precicely, Hank Aaron's drivers license.

Hal, if Aaron is number 550447 and the checklist is alphabetical you're going to have a tough time acquiring the complete set. The high numbers are going to kill you. It's safe bet that Aaron is a single print, though. The portrait is nice but I would prefer an action shot. And I've never liked photos in which the player is capless. Still, he is a HOFer. Nice pickup.

I still get a kick out of our similarities-about the same age, both bankers, both 3 grown kids, both married to our high school sweethearts for 30 years, both vintage card collectors. Cool.

Oops, I see you have 2 kids. Here's a shot of the old girl at about 18, 2 years after we started dating.
