One of the reasons I like the 1940 Play Ball set is all the nicknames of the players. I had a hard time coming up with a favorite but here is one of them.

I don't have a scan but HOF pitcher "High Pockets" Kelly is one of my favorites. Why High Pockets, was he cheap or did he wear his pants hiked up?

I think you have to wait until the 49 Bowmans to find him, but I really get a kick out of Howard "Bow wow" Arft's nickname.

On a serious note, although it probably seems mundane, for me it doesn't get any better than Shoeless Joe Jackson.
