Ever since my first few visits to this board I've wondered what types of occupations you other collectors hold. I've been curious to know if many of us work in sports-related fields or if there are any other common threads among our choice of careers.

I'll start: I'm a staff photographer for a Gannett newspaper in Louisiana. Although I shoot a bit of everything from news to features, I also shoot an equal share of sports.

I'd like to know what you all do, or did as some peoples case may be.

Please forgive me if this topic is too far off, I can promise I'll very rarely ever stray away from cards.

Well, I'll keep the professor thing going a little longer-- I'm a professor of American literature and film at the University of Illinois.

Mike Peich is also in English, at West Chester University.

I am a lawyer by training, but for several years now have been an expert in the energy industry. My current area of focus is the development of renewable hydrokinetic energy . . . which is essentially capturing the power of ocean waves.

While I many times wish I was a professor of photography working on a grant for the semiconductor industry, my actual work history includes:
1) An environmental consultant specialkizing in chemical processing regulations
2) A Materials Mgr in the telecom industry
and now, finally, for the last 7+ years,
3) An equity analyst and portfolio manager

I'm a Bioanalytical Chemist for a Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics group of a major pharmaceutical company.

Sounds fancy but it's really not.


I develop methods to extract compounds from plasma and urine for quantitative purposes. Oh joy!

That's my part time job, to pay a 16-year old sons auto insurance. My full time job is creative director for the second largest provider of services to the developmentally disabled in the US. (non-profit, and the pay reflects it)
