Default Who is this player and what is it?

I just picked this up on E-bay but I don`t know who or what it is.The auction says it is a cracker jack photo charm? It looks similar to the 1950 Baseball Player Vending Charms on the oldcardbard site but the frame is different. My guess Lou Boudreau maybe?

I forget what these trinkets are--try over on the memorabilia side. Somebody seems to start a thread on these things every so often. From what I recall, they date from the 1950's and there is not tremendous value in them.

They are charms sold in gumball machines.

Dan,

There's some good info in this thread:

http://www.network54.com/Forum/567138/thread/1210298554/1940s-%2750s+gumball+machine+Charms

These charms can be found with a wide variety of frames and colors, by the way.

I have a bunch of Boudreau items and am used to seeing his face from a lot of different angles. My first reaction is that's not him, but after studying it more, I probably could be convinced it is. How's that for straddling the fence?

I thought it was Furillo at first, but am also not entirely convinced it isn't Boudreau.

That player was was one of the toughest of all the charms I have to try & identify. It was tenatively thought to be Wally Westlake of the '47 thru '51 Pirates.

I have since had second thoughts as it appears to be a lefthanded batter & Westlake was righty both ways.

I have a hunch if I scour my 1950 thru '52 Bowmans that face will appear.

Perhaps Fain, but one knowledgable friend of ours seems to think it's Willard Marshall. Anyone else feel the same?
