Leon- Has anyone ever suggested what type of container or package the E94s actually came in? I always thought someone would one day turn up a box or package which said "baseball player card inside" but...

besides the limited stampings on the back, do we have any other connection between e94s and the George Close Candy Co? could this be another anonymous issue with some being stamped ala e98/Old Puts?

I have never seen a box or wrapper that had George Close and baseball player tied to it, or baseball picutures etc....I think with the Overprints, except Blomes, having "George Close" on them it always gave credence to Close being the mfg. I would think we need to look for a "Star Baseball Players" wrapper or box of some type. Burdick just called the set "Star Baseball Players" so he didn't correlate the name to the series..

coupla trade cards, coupla letter head and (7) different Tins. Have (4) different violet tins with different info on the back for Colgan's, Autosales Gum and Sterling Gum. 3 different on the green (mint) tins but none for Sterling. Does anyone have a Sterling Gum Green (Mint) tin?

Quan,

I believe E94 and E98 were left anonymous so that more than one (ie Blomes and Close) could use the cards with their product.

Leon - I have a tin like your blue and yellow one. Mine is rectangular, not round. I will take a pic if I get a chance.
