I feel lucky to have spotted this Ruth late night shortly after it listed, then decided to roll the dice on a zero feedback seller. It arrived safe and sound, and it seems this seller's- "these were my grandpa's cards" story is fully legit. The stain is nowhere nearly as pronounced in person, but am curious if any have had success soaking E120s. I've never soaked a card, and probably won't try on this one, but still interested to know if any think I might be able to clean this one up a bit. Last edited by itjclarke; 03-07-2015 at 10:06 PM. I know not as many people get jazzed about items like this (other than Leon & I
)This is the only example of a wrapper of Bishop's Chocolate that I have ever encountered that is correct to the 1910 period, there may be other examples out there but I have never seen any. This is exactly the right size for an E99, E100, and E221 (folded) to have been distributed in (scanned larger so you can see the writing). A few of the team cards say they were included in 5-cent packages of Bishop's Chocolate, Nut Bar, and Almond Bar. Anyways, it isn't something you will likely see again for a good long while so I figured I'd share it... ![]()

The ancillary items to a card collection are very important supporting role players. All of my Old Judge non-card items help define the universe in which the cards existed at the time. So, as far as I am concerned your Bishop wrappers are awesome! Kevin |

nice stuff mike...I love the trade card...no 3 balls and 2 strikes back then for a full count...and love the underhanded "call it where u want it pitched" style of pitching!

Will be FOR SALE soon prob. Guy had some old Pool and Track and a couple boxing tobacco cards in an old cracking nine pocket. This Random guy was on the back of a Kentucky Girl T card. He ain't mint, but he was lonely w all those other sports guys, I liked the back, and money or not, he was calling my name. Good back guys?

OK.
1. The postcards are trimmed. 2. The postcards are removed from an album. 3. I'm nuts. It all evens out: |

Brian, I had my sights set on that trimmed Wheaties Bancroft. The trimming was supposed to scare you and everyone else away. I guess not. Congrats.

Hi Rhett, thanks for the information, I hadn't thought of wrapping the team card around the chocolate, that is intriguing. The team cards are about the same thickness as the e99/e100s, slightly thinner than a T206.

This came Wednesday. From the research I have done (albeit it may not be as thorough as some) it is the only one I could find in existence. Not sure if this pre-dates his e90-1 or the Colgan Chips, but I think this is the earliest known image of Joe Jackson (bottom right corner) on a "card", per se.
Thanks, Greg Last edited by gnaz01; 03-13-2015 at 05:03 PM. |

Greg:
I looked for that W601 w/Jackson for a long time with no luck, it's one of my favorites. I don't mean to scare you but there are a lot of repro's out there of W601's, you might want to check yours closely to make sure that it is authentic. Depending on your source for picking it up, you may not need to worry. I have no reason to think that it's not good, no way to tell from a scan though. |

None of the Sporting Life Team Composites are easy, but the ones from the later years (1907 on) are extremely difficult to find when compared to their earlier sets (1902-06). Congrats on a great pickup. |
