The Mick was my boyhood idol. Saw him hit a homer over the center field fence at Comiskey Park which is still my biggest thrill. The 1961 season has great memories for me and I have collected a few things shown here.

Ted,

I'm always fascinated with your collections and the knowledge you have of cards. How did you acquire the Red Man Mantle, and what prevented the card from being issued?

Hi Lou

Thanks for the compliments.

I acquired this Red Man Mantle in a collection I purchased some years ago.

My guess is that the Bowman Gum Co. had exclusive rights to Mantle, and that is why he was not included
with the 1952 - 1955 Red Man issues.

And perhaps, to a certain degree the same applies to why Mantle was not in the 1954 and 1955 Topps sets.
