Thanks. You did a great job packing it up. It's now framed but I need to re-visit the tassels. I think they need to go along the spine on the left side. I took the knot out of the tassels but after 110 years, they have a mind of their own.

Looks good, Gary!

Untying these silk tassels was like doing surgery. I actually did use a dental instrument.

That's a really nice framing job. I like the fishtail in the frame to match the pennant. How old is that Ohio pennant?

I just cut up a cheap plastic poster frame. The pennant is from 1904-05. I went to school at Ohio U.

I just discovered I can get a reprint of the manufacturer’s original catalog of “College and Society Goods.” I might have to pick one up.

ABC's contribution to the world of football pennants. Does this mean they also made the ubiquitous version which omits the coliseum reference?

Good question! This "ABC" mark on your Rams pennant actually is a concessionaire's mark (not a maker's mark); and it belonged to the ABC Beverage Co., who ran concessions at the LA Memorial Coliseum in the late 1950s and 1960s.

The same mark, you're probably aware, appeared on certain USC and UCLA pennants from the same era--both whom called the Coliseum home at that time.

I believe this Rams pennant (and the more common variant sans ABC mark) was made by Trench.

Now, pennants featuring the ABC Emblem & Pennant Co. maker's mark/label (like Boca's San Francisco Seals pennant) were also being made at this same time; however, to the best of my knowledge, they all featured a label and were made of sewed letter construction.

So the two outfits shared the same name; but that's about it.

A little before Michael Jack.

Bob Brenly lived down the hall in my freshman dorm.
