It was a long Friday for me over 3 1/2 hours each way and I saw just about all the same dealers as I would see up here in Philly, so not worth the trip. Venue was nice with lots to eat nearby and easy to get to but damn it seemed to be nearly 40-50% Pokemon...

I live in the area and have attended the CSA show since the beginning when Marco Rol (RIP) was the promoter. The rap against CSA then was it was more of an autograph show, but I get the feeling that has reversed. There have always been some interesting non card vendors (ex. gutters, beef jerky, jewelry) but nothing like the Pokemon dealers I witnessed on Sunday. I was just chatting about the Strongsville and Philly show with a fellow collector. For me Strongsville is a 6+ hour drive just for cards. Is the Philly show being taken over by Pokemon?

While Pokemon obviously has a presence in Philly, for my money Philly has surpassed Chantilly for vintage. They have basically flip-flopped in their respective vintage positions in terms of quality.

I have not attended the Philly show in ages, but the amount of vintage was impressive. With what I witnessed Sunday at CSA, I would have to agree with you.

I live near the Chantilly Show and have been going to it forever. I have also been going to the Philly Show about once every year or two from as far back as the Willow Grove days. My (sometimes pathetic) memory believes that the Philly Show has ALWAYS had more vintage, especially pre-War vintage, than Chantilly. And, I'm planning to go to Philly in September.

I've never been to Chantilly but I've been going to the Philly Show for a long time and it always had a significant amount of vintage available. When I asked people if it was worth the ride to Chantilly (I'm in central NJ), I was always told that I would mainly see the same vintage dealers that were in Philly so probably not.

As for Pokemon in Philly, there have definitely been more at the last few shows than I remember seeing there, but the current setup has 2 rooms and most of the Pokemon dealers have been in the second room with a few mixed into the main room with sportscard dealers.
