I have a ton of miscuts from 1966. Is this project settled or do I need to dig through my stack for anything to help out this puzzle?....big john

Hey! I have so much confidence in our reconstructed 66 6th slits that I posted them on my 1966 Topps page!
(but please post your miscut images here!) |

I have gone back over this series multiple times - everything I have found (with two exceptions below) completely validates the final slits developed earlier.
One reason it never felt quite 'right' was because of the strict ABCDEFG row pattern. The only 77 card series we know of that mirrors this is 1968 series 6. All other 77 card series mix the rows to some degree creating a situation where rows have multiple top and bottom partners. However, with all the top and bottom pairs that were ID'd in this series (and that's quite a lot), there are no pairs which point to anything other than the ABCDEFG pattern. So to Cliff and Kevvy - well done. You guys were right. I mentioned above there are two exceptions which continue to really puzzle me. These images of Wally Bunker and the Giants Rookies clearly appear to be top row cards. If we were starting this series from scratch, we'd confidently place them there. How are they explained? They aren't in the same row which makes it seem harder to reason why they both clearly show clear evidence of being in the top row, even though it sure seems they cannot be. |

Is it possible/conceivable that those cards might be trimmed slightly? Do you have back scans of those cards?

Sadly, no. This is it.

Just did some quick measurements.
the standard 2.5 x 3.5 card size gives a .714 ratio. I measure the image of the Bunker and came away with a .710 ration. The Giants rookie stars has a .70 ratio. So, based on this extremely unscientific process, they would seem to be almost the exact correct size. |
