The Mantle photo is iconic and was used by many for autographs in later years. Gallo had an imprinted raised stamp that was placed in the lower right hand corner to signify that it was an original Gallo photo. However, those would have been Type 2 at best.
The one you have is earlier but unless printed from original negative within 2 years of the first photo, it would still be a 2. I would send it to PSA and for $50 (more if it is deemed a Type 1 but worth it) and get Henry Yee and Marshal Fogel’s opinion. There are photography experts who may see this and respond.
