Not that it really matters, but I wonder why it received the Authentic (unaltered) grade? The other example in the population is a 7. So was this one factory-cut short?

Also, I much prefer this hobby news over “Shiny Card Sells For Millions.” Too bad it likely won’t receive anywhere near the coverage.

It’s got writing on the back and looks like someone colored in a scrape by his foot. Also badly creased..

I see the wear and damage of course. I’m just curious about the Authentic grade without Altered.

Fantastic card, love that image of Wagner, same as Max Stein postcard which is on my wish list.

Creases don't take away from the image nor does the staining/writing.

I'll guess a pretty wide range cuz it only takes a couple of guys to make that card run, 85K-125K w/BP.

Possibly paper loss + writing on back = not meeting criteria for a 1?

That's always been one of my favorite cards. I knew it was exceedingly rare, but didn't realize that there was only one known until now. Are all Plow's Candy cards this rare?

Most are. Several have a handful combined PSA and SGC graded. There is one anomaly - Bill Dahlen. He has a combined 14 graded, with 10 of those graded as 1. The linked video briefly discusses Dahlen and the idea/theory that his cards were stacked and suffered water damage after a fire (if I remember correctly...I watched it a few days ago, and a lot may have been erased/altered in the memory bank, for crying out loud!). Most of the Dahlen cards seen have similar paper loss on front and damage on the back as the one shown below, which has not been graded.

That I didn’t know. Thanks for sharing. Are you talking about the fire at the Plows Candy factory or Bills own fire?

The arson fire at the factory at the end of 1913, which supposedly is the reason why there is water damage to the group of Bill Dahlen cards (the damage is consistently in the same area on all of these Dahlen cards I have seen over the years, so I presume they were stacked on top of each other).

It took me forever to re-find in the interview video where this was mentioned, but it is at the very end, at the 45 minute mark.
