Post some additional pictures of the ball please and that will help. I believe that's a Charles Feeney ball (1970-86 NLP). Maris retired after the 68 season, so it may help if you show the other signatures.

Not questioning the opinions above and this is only for my edification, but do almost all the signatures appear to have been signed with the same pen?

Would be consistent with the idea of passing it around in the clubhouse.
I have a Maris I'm planning to submit to PSA tomorrow. Worth sending?

FWIW, mine in the picture above just got reviewed by PSA/DNA and was tagged Questionable Authenticity, their term for fake.

how were you able to get it verified on a 2nd attempt? I have a Jeter signed bat that failed jsa authentication. I believe it's authentic and am looking for ways to get it authenticated.

They are both believable. But for the market, it's now in a slab. I did not see it getting signed. If someone knowledgeable on his signature does not believe it is valid and tells me that, I would crack it out and shred it to remove from the market. Such is the problem with aftermarket authenticators. They have both alpha and beta errors: they pass fakes, and the fail real ones.

They can't both be believable--unless you're engaged in Orwell's doublethink.
But the fact that it's slabbed now makes it a sellable commodity, and in the autograph market, that seems to be all that counts.

Default Maris Signatures

I believe the first Maris signature is definitely good, as are the other signatures shown on the ball. The second Maris doesn't look good to me; not saying it isn't, but I wouldn't buy it, authenticated or not.

Submit anything enough times and at some point it will become authentic...
