I'm with you, Hot Springs. Deadball Stars NL and AL are 2 of the best books I've ever bought. They aren't fancy coffee table books, but the cost is low & the content is fantastic! I don't need re-hashes of career stats. I want to read stories about the personalities, unusual experiences and backgrounds.

Greetings all. I just received my copy yesterday. I just browsed through the book and a very nice presentation for each player in the set. I look forward to reading the book in the coming weeks. Nice Anniversary issue.

Currently stocked at most Barnes & Nobles store locations.
Cheaper online, but if you don't want to wait... |

It's a few years old now, but the Baseball Biographical Encyclopedia is a really nice resource for player biographies from all eras. They're relatively short for lesser known players, but it's a pretty comprehensive hardcover book.

I was very displeased that used reprints for photos of the cards in chapters 1-6.The colors look washed out and pictures look grainy.Thumbs down from me.
