With the help of fellow members was able to get cement morter off the one chair. Thanks! The larger photo is (Briggs) Tiger Stadium and the small photo is Navin Stadium (lower left hand corner).

I thought this 1930s Trolley Car Ad Sign was pretty cool. It's an ad for Wrigley's Double Mint. I'm still trying to figure out why gum would have been used "for emergencies", but liked the Baseball tie-in. The Hack Wilson reference is also cool, as Wrigley's roots have been in Chicago forever....

I don't know..I suppose Ira Hutchinson might be difficult to get since he died in 1973...a few other major leaguers (Alan Brice, Joe Horlen). My first 59 team signed ball though...and finding stuff I don't already have is becoming difficult.

Um...believable Scott. Looks like you are the KING on companion pieces! Just an incredible pick-up my friend.
Jimmy, Thanks for the nice compliment (no pun intended). Let's just say that I learned from the best. You're THE MAN when it comes to the campanion pieces. I'm just drafting in your wake, buddy..... Last edited by Scott Garner; 10-29-2011 at 10:47 AM. |

Ditto. Jimmy...
I feel like it's almost too obvious and redundant to compliment your acquisitions, as they are always off the charts. But many thanks for the compliments! What you said about Mike H and me was ironic... we often step aside for each other when a unique figural piece hits the market. I never even saw his Catcher Ashtray, but we often have to "collaborate" when a cool figural piece surfaces. I sometimes wonder if you and Mark (Lordstan) do the same with photos... Yankees in particular! |

Mark(perezfan),
I am honored to be mentioned in the same realm with Jimmy. BUT...when it comes to vintage Yankees photography, Jimmy is the "King" of this board and probably pretty close to overall. My wife keeps a tight noose(yes...Noose) on my monthly expenditures, so we collect in a different range. I am fortunate to count him as friend and trusted advisor, which is only fair as I do have him to blame for my current interest in vintage photography. I was happy and blissfully ignorant collecting my signed 34 Goudeys, when Bam...He comes along with ridiculous photos of Gehrig and holy cow I'm hooked. I think it is quite easy to get hooked on collecting new things because of this board. The amount, quality, and variety of the collections here are incredible and too numerous to mention each. Suffice it to say, that this is THE place to live out your collecting dreams vicariously through others. What makes it even worse, is that most here are so damn nice, it's hard not to get caught up in their collecting enthusiasm. You figural and pennant collectors have fantastic stuff as well. I am fortunate that my basement isn't finished or I might have to get some of those as well to display. Best, Mark
