Just got this 1935 Scranton Miners team signed photo featuring a really early VanderMeer, also on a more modern note picked up a 2008 International League Champions Scranton Yankees ring. It was player issued and is a great addition to my Scranton Wilkes Barre minor league baseball collection. The ring is resting on a Butch Wynegars hat from last season.

Default April...and March, too

I always seem to be at least a month behind before I can get to posting here and hope my March additions can sneak in without too much objection.

We've done pretty well over the past two months and here are some of the highlights...

1. Circa 1905-1910 Reach Mushroom Bat...truly the nicest of its kind that we've had the good fortune to come across.

2. Circa 1920's, 36", Bone Rubbed, Ty Cobb model bat.

Default Some more from the past two months...

1. Circa 1920's, Babe Ruth model bat...our 6th...one can never have too many Ruth bats, can they?

2. We're gonna say that this circa 1918 Spalding bat is kinda scarce. Nevermind the great Bennie Kauff endorsement, but its the lone example of a Spalding bat marked with the WWI era YMCA logo that we've ever seen. The interesting thing is that the YMCA logo is depicted differently here on a Spalding bat than all the Lousiville Slugger examples that we've come across or reside in our collection.

Default Last ones, I promise...

1. Circa 1900 crescent padded baseman's mitt. Really solid example of a late 19th Century/ Turn of the Century mitt and the first example of a grommet back (hook and eye) mitt that we've owned.

2. Stellar example of a Spalding Official National League Ball with John Heydler Pres. stamp...its got a box, too.

3. Cool circa 1939 Independent League jersey made by Lowe and Campbell with a great Centennial patch on the sleeve.

Well, that's about all of it for now. We did also pick up an 1895 Harvard BBC Trophy and glass stein with the image of a 19th century plater painted on it...I'll try to picture and post that before too long.

Thanks for lookin'...good luck and happy hunting to all.

Default Minor League Players Contract- White Sox...

Picked up a contract between the Chicago White Sox and the Indianapolis Indians from 1959...Still trying to gain a better understanding on the history of the contract, but looks to be players rights sold from Indians to Sox...

Also as a nice touch, signed by Comiskey....

My guess is that it's the contract that makes the Indianapolis Indians the AAA affiliate of the White Sox (BTW 1959 was the last year the Indians were the Sox affiliate). Basically a blanket contract that allows the big league club to pick up the contracts of the minor leaguers. Cool piece!
