Default New York Giants Notebook

Has anyone here seen this notebook before - or another from this series?

EDIT: My initial post title said that this was Matty, but I agree with RUKen (thanks for the post) that this looks like Tillie Shafer, who has an interesting story:

Default Re: Christy Mathewson Notebook - Playing 1st Base

I see a resemblance to Matty, but I'm not 100% convinced. The runner bears a resemblance to Bugs Raymond, which begs the question of why two pitchers would stage a first base scene like that. Interesting piece.

Doesn’t scream Matty to me. Face seems way too chubby.

Default Great image

I am not sure it is Matty at first. Looks similar to him, but I agree with Steve N. that the player looks too full faced.

It is definitely 1910 or earlier at Polo Grounds.

Wierdest part is the throw is coming from off the field.

imho ~

it's Mr "BiG Six" Him Ownself!

His face is considerably shaded, why he looks chubby.
He is wearing what Mr Mathewson(Uniform) would of worn
& No one else actually looks like him, cept maybe Mr Marquad
& that ain't him!

Mr Mathewson's ears match, as far i can see ~

Who else could he be?

it's Mr Mathewson alright!!!

jmho !

Looks like Matty to me, but I wouldn't be shocked to find out it wasn't. Might be Fred Snodgrass sliding in.

No doubt, which makes it even weirder. Why stage an impossible situation?
