If I recall cost was between $90,000 and $99,000 and their gross profit was $56,000 or so. I do nor know the platform fees or other expenses were.
I wonder what dealers who unloaded their inventories to repackers will do now? Rebuild or go fishing.

All shows, regardless of size, have changed since the Covid boom. There is less vintage cards (in all sports) and very little vintage memorabilia (in any sport) to speak of. Most of the dealers are selling the shiny stuff and recently a lot more Pokémon. Depending on your perspective, the shows are better, worse, or the same as pre-covid shows. The National may or may not have a little more vintage cards & memorabilia than the typical show.

+1

Also, when someone posts about admission, remember the costs to rent many places have also gone up considerably since 2020 and thus the promoter has to recoup the cost one way or the other.

And I can tell you there may be other factors as well, I have a little 20 table show for my synagogue and although as a member I don't have to pay rent as it's an official function, I still had to add $1 to the suggested donation to help offset the cost of our security. (yes a synagogue has different issues on that but, as we saw with several high $$ thefts at some big shows, you need to have extra help at everything nowadays)

On the list of things I could never see spending money on in this lifetime, a repack is damn near the top. I can hear Don West right now selling these things.

I went to this show for the first and likely last time. I was looking for some pre war stuff and some select 50's card. I picked up 9 Cracker Jacks from Stan vintage cards and one other from a random seller.

My biggest issue is the amount of Pokemon and my question is what was there before the Pokemon. Was the show smaller or have the Pokemon delaers pushed out other dealers for some reason. It was a long Friday for me over 3 1/2 hours each way and I saw just about all the same dealers as I would see up here in Philly, so not worth the trip. Venue was nice with lots to eat nearby and easy to get to but damn it seemed to be nearly 40-50% Pokemon...

I live in the area and have attended the CSA show since the beginning when Marco Rol (RIP) was the promoter. The rap against CSA then was it was more of an autograph show, but I get the feeling that has reversed. There have always been some interesting non card vendors (ex. gutters, beef jerky, jewelry) but nothing like the Pokemon dealers I witnessed on Sunday. I was just chatting about the Strongsville and Philly show with a fellow collector. For me Strongsville is a 6+ hour drive just for cards. Is the Philly show being taken over by Pokemon?

While Pokemon obviously has a presence in Philly, for my money Philly has surpassed Chantilly for vintage. They have basically flip-flopped in their respective vintage positions in terms of quality.

Dealers that stopped setting up at Chantilly have left on their own accord. They were not pushed out by Pokémon dealers. At the end of each show a contract is placed on your table and they can fill it out it or throw it way.

The broader hobby market has a demand for Trading Card Games (TCG) and Pokemon is one of the largest Intellectual Properties (IP) in the world. It’s bringing kids to shows and the market is hot in terms of top cards in sets rising and holding values. I don’t collect it, but I’m not blind to what’s going on in the hobby.

The hobby isn’t just pre-war baseball cards and certainly not the 1950-1970s mass printed stuff that is all over Chantilly/Philly/Strongsville/the National
